Dry Stone Wallingby Richard Laidler (Master Waller/Instructor)Professional member of the Yorkshire Dry Stone Walling Guild WelcomeI am Richard Laidler, a Master Waller and Instructor of dry stone walling, and a professional member of the Yorkshire Dry Stone Walling Guild.
I was introduced to the craft of dry stone walling when I became a volunteer with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority nearly 11 years ago.
I was able to learn the craft whilst carrying out my duties with various rangers and was later introduced to the Yorkshire Dry Stone Walling Guild where I gained further experience walling with Guild members. I became an instructor with the Guild and passed my Master Wallers test. I have taught many students and throughout the year, I attend various agricultural shows and exhibitions to pass on my skills and make the public aware of this ancient craft.
I have a passion for dry stone walls and would like to see as many walls as possible restored to their former glory and not simply abandoned.
The regions I work in include North Yorkshire, County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumbria, but I am willing to travel if required. My services include building, repairing and maintaining dry stone walls and additionally, hedge laying.
A portfolio of my recent work can be found on this site. If you are interested in my services please don't hesitate to contact me. |
